THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PSYCHOLOGY – COLOMBO DECLARATION, SRI LANKA 08TH DECEMBER 2011.

The Theme being;

“TOWARDS IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF LIFE, PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING, SOCIAL HARMONY AND GLOBAL PEACE THROUGH THE INVINCIBLE POWER OF CONSCIOUSNESS”

Participants of the aforesaid International Conference deliberated on the Message sent by His Excellency The President of The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka which reads as follows;

“....to deliberate on the deeper meaning of human behaviour and the usefulness of a system of values that help us integrate with modern society, live in harmony, and strive towards our fuller potential are timely and of much relevance”

We recommend ‘Family focused intervention’ through various government, non-governmental and socio-religious agencies to enhance psychological skills, primarily empathizing skills, self management skills and higher levels of inter-personal relationship skills for enhancing their physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being.

We recommend a package addressing ‘management of self’ through physical, mental-psychological and spiritual training through meditation, contemplation, prayers and mental exercises that can be disseminated through parents, educators, social leaders, and stake holders of mental  physical well-being which is focused on higher achievement, success in life and spirituality.

The First International Conference on Psychology & Allied Professions Sri Lanka 2011 was organized by the;

Sri Lankan Association for Psychology, Counseling and Psychotherapy(SLAPCAP) and by the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

Signatures were placed  by all delegates of the above International Conference on the 08th Day of December in the year 2011.
